SPRING WRESTLING SESSIONS - THURSDAY
Location: Granville High School wrestling room
Dates: Every Thursday from April 3rd thru May 22nd
5:30-6:45pm for Beginners
6:45-8:00pm for Advanced
Will be coached by Klay Reeves - current Ohio State wrestler
MISSION STATEMENT:
The Mission Statement for this 8 week training cycle is to create a solid foundation by instilling crucial fundamental skills at all levels. Developing an understanding of the sport by way of technique, body positioning, mat awareness and muscle memory will allow the athletes to internalize the skills and allow them to build off it in the future. Presenting quality techniques instead of a quantity of technique will be the focus of each training session. While accomplishing this, having fun and growing a love, not only the sport but, for working hard is crucial for the development of the athlete in the sport of wrestling and in the outside world.
GOALS:
This group will go over the basic fundamental skills at a faster pace, spending time in areas that aren’t as skilled as others. My goal for this group is to have a solid foundation and then build off that with more advanced techniques that will help the athletes win at the highest level. With that, more individual attention will be given so athletes can grow at their own rate in areas they specifically need the most. Developing understanding and mindset of the sport will also be touched on in this group. Similar to the youth beginner group, drilling, live situations, live go’s and some other advanced drills like sparring will be the main ways this group will be trained. Basic skills and techniques from previous sessions will be addressed each session.
